Tasmania / ulysses sunday ride from cambridge
« Last post by merlot on 19 February, 2020, 11:13:06 AM »
sunday started a little overcast at home and it was an early start needed from me as i was going to the breakfast at the Red Square cafe at Cambridge Park,at 9am.around 1hr of open road...i left at 7.30am  :cold:

there was a good turnout of disgracefuls, around 20 or so and the cafe handled the numbers well :ok:
also a good showing of Spyders...4 in all :ride:

after the food came the ride briefing,it was riders choice and the venue decided on was Oatlands via Runnymede and Levendale

i was a little apprehensive re the route,as this area usually has poor quality road surface, with potholes, patches and the like :scared:
i neednt have worried...the surface was outstanding all the way to Oatland
we regrouped at the local coffee shop(one of them anyway)and the banter began

the weather was outstanding...perfect for riding, right on the cusp of..jacket liner in?or out?...i left mine in :clever:

its funny how the bike types tend to form up together eg.Harley types together,Spyders together etc

at the close we all went our separate ways...some went to Ross and beyond but i'd had such a good ride on the way out,i decided to backtrack with clean air.i wasnt going back to Triabunna, instead going to Cygnet to see the "girls in the office"
thats when things got interesting...i mustve missed a turn as the road quickly turned to dirt
so i spun around and tried another road.....but more dirt
so i decided to suck it up and what followed was around 20ks of dirt road
i didnt mind it as the dirt was pretty good, but as soon as i reached the G.F. house at Cygnet,i needed to hose off the bike due to covered in dust :teaser:

i took the long way to Cygnet around the channel highway thru Snug, then zigxagged down the Nichols Rivulet then back across to Woodbridge, then back on the Channel Hwy and on to Cygnet

Finally arrived at Cygnet at around 4pm and 300 or so kms
a final ride to the bottle shop to round off a near perfect day :newcheer:

the next day(monday) saw me ride home(another 130kms)via Sorrell where i got a roadworthy for the bike
rego paid and i finally got my pers numb plate fitted :bananadevil:
cleaning the bike was a trial...i needed to remove the front grill and both the wheels to remove the myriad of bugs collected on the day :pullinghair:

all up a really top weekend :fest:
